Will Shock Treatment clear a green pool?
Remember that shocking alone does not clear up a green or cloudy pool; that is what the filter is for. It doesn’t matter how much shock you put in the pool if you have a bad filter.
Why is my pool still green after using shock?
When shock chlorine oxidizes the copper, it turns green and that’s what you’re seeing in the pool. To get rid of it you’ll need to raise the pool’s calcium hardness by adding calcium chloride. The other culprit can be high levels of pollen.
Why is my green pool not clearing up?
Green or cloudy water will quickly clog a filter, therefore you may have to backwash your filter many times a day until the pool clears. The pool will never clear up if the filter is not working properly ! Once the water does clear up, you will most likely see debris on the pool floor (dead leaves, algae, etc.).
When to use shock treatment on a pool?
You’ll also want to apply shock treatment when opening the pool, and closing it down for the season. On opening, after you’ve balanced it’s pH level, shocking will sanitize and oxidize the pool, restoring its clear water. On closing, pool shock is used as a disinfectant to prepare the pool for the winter months.
Why does the granular shock in my Pool not dissolve?
Anyway, it’s been about 3 weeks now and it will not dissolve. It sinks to the bottom and the water is clear, but if I brush the sides it clouds up the entire pool. My pump/filter is running for about 8 hours a day, but I can’t seem to get this stuff to dissolve. Very strange. Any ideas out there? Thanks!!
How long does it take for pool shock to clear up algae?
Give the shock a good 12 to 24 hours to work it’s magic. If the algae hasn’t cleared up after 24-48 hours, clean and brush the pool and add another shock treatment. When the chlorine has completely finished working, the algae in the pool will turn a white/gray color and will either settle to the bottom of the pool or be suspended in the water.
What happens when you shock a pool with chlorine?
Pool shock is a “super dose” of granular pool chlorine that oxidizes chloramines (combined chlorine) and kills bacteria in the water. Shocking depletes combined chlorine and increases free chlorine .
