Why is my gen not generating light?
The most common cause of portable generators failing to produce electricity is from the loss of residual magnetism. Generators work by moving electrical conductors through a magnetic field. Your generator does not have magnets. When the residual magnetism is lost, the generator will produce no power at start-up.
What causes a generator not to start?
The carburetor might be clogged. A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the generator for a long period of time. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and prevent the engine from starting. If the carburetor is clogged, try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner.
How do I know if my AVR generator is bad?
There are a number of symptoms that show the AVR of your generator is faulty. This includes, pre- mature burnout of electrical components, low power output and a malfunctioning instrument cluster.
Why does my generator not turn over when I start it?
If your generator is trying to startup but the engine can’t seem to turn over, the problem may be too much or too little air mixing with your fuel during combustion. When starting a generator cold – that is, it hasn’t been running for at least the past few hours – the choke should be set all the way closed.
How does a remote generator on / off switch work?
wildmanbaker wrote: The remote switch is a 3 position switch. The lighting bolt will light when the button is pushed. This primes the carb. by running the fuel pump. When you let off, it spring returns to neutral. When you push the bottom of the switch, it should crank the generator, and start. I hope I understood you problem/question.
Why does my generator transfer to manual mode?
First being that if for some reason the #23 wire which tell’s the transfer switch to transfer is grounded along the way, or the relay inside the generator is stuck in standby mode. You would be able to tell this by starting the generator in ‘Manual’ mode. If the switch instantly tries to transfer to standby you have a grounded 23 wire.
What to do when ATS won’t transfer back to generator?
When it won’t switch back, you need to determine if the 23 terminal is grounded in the transfer switch. A meter set to measure DC will read 12V (or close to it) across 194 and 23 if the generator is calling for the switch to stay in standby mode.

Can a dash switch be used to start a generator?
There is no attempt to start when using the dash switch, doesn’t attempt to turn over at all as if the switch is dead. As I mentioned it will cut the power if it’s running (generator started from outside).
Why are my remote start switches not working?
The remote start switches did not function. Took the control box cover off, disconnected all electronic connections and sprayed all connections and circuit boards with electronic contact cleaner, then reconnected all of the connectors several times. Then it started up ! Posted By: five’er on 06/28/12 08:20am
