Why is my Dometic WeatherPro awning not working?
Our awning motor I believe is failing. It will work sometimes but is getting worse. Motor sounds to be in a bind. I will start to move and will stop. We can start it again shortly and go a ways and stop. It will come back in if we continue with this.Needless to say I need to fix this. It appears to be the original on our Teton.

How is the control box on a WeatherPro connected?
These are Brown, Yellow, Green for WeatherPro and Brown/ White, Yellow/White, Green/White for Oasis Elite. The switch end of the wire will be connected to the switch by means of 1/4″ insulated tab con- nectors. The control box end has a pig tail to connect the control box to these three wires.

What to do if your awning won’t extend?
You might need to unscrew the back of the remote to access the batteries. Adjust the awning’s limit settings; the unit might be configured incorrectly for your particular patio or deck area. The awning won’t fully extend if the “Open” limit setting is set too closely to the awning’s closed position.

Nothing appears to be binding. When it stops, I can push arms up and down with little resistance. It does have to compress those struts though and it is bowing that arm but more so on the motor end. Think I will replace them to with the motor.

How do you extend an awning in WeatherPro?

What to do if your power awning won’t retract?
Remove the plastic covers from both ends of the awning and look for any damaged bearings or broken gears on the motor side. If you tried connecting 12V directly to the motor during the electrical checks and nothing happened your motor is dead. Or if like mine, it makes a lot of noise and moves very slowly, it needs to be replaced.

Fortunately, I was able to quickly diagnose the problem was the manual power switch itself and not the motor, fuse or wiring. I deduced this in two ways: The Dometic power awning also functions using our Keystone Cougar trailers wireless remote control.
