Maybe post some pix. If there are white bits that are salt, they will taste of salt. Doing a bit of research suggests that it’s calcium scaling caused by water that is not chemically balanced. The chemical environment inside the cell is much higher pH than the bulk pool water and therefore scaling is occurring.
