Why does my wall have water stains?
The source of a water stain is often something simple; a leak from a heating appliance, plumbing leak or water which has come through the ceiling. These leaks leave behind mineral deposits which are dry, discoloured and often smell. This doesn’t look good on the wall at all.
Why does my couch get water stains?
Depending on what type of material your upholstery is made of, water can leave visible stains. Sometimes this is because certain materials don’t react well to water and discolour. More often however, stains can be caused by the minerals or dirt in the water itself.
How do you cover water marks on walls?
The only way to stop the water mark discolouring the paint is to cover the stain with a stain blocker or an oil based paint first. You can then emulsion or paper overit. If you don’t create this barrier the water mark will just keep on coming through, however many coats of emulsion you put on!

What kind of stain is nicotine on the ceiling?
Nicotine and tar stains are brown in color. Unlike other stains, they tend to be more consistent and uniform, like a thick layer of brown dust, spread evenly across the ceiling. The same type of stain will also be present from about 3/4 of the way up interior walls, and all the way up to the ceiling.
