Why does my tub faucet run when shower is on?
Showering is something you do fairly frequently. You’re no stranger to stepping in the shower, turning on the faucet, and adjusting the taps to get the perfect water temperature. If your tub’s spigot continues to run even when you turn on your shower, you most likely have an old or faulty shower diverter valve.
Why is water coming out of my shower head?
The most common reason is that there is something restricting the water flow to the spout (for example, solder or something lodged in the pipe). Something is impeding the flow of water to the spout and causing it to back up and go out of the shower head.

If the diverter is fully open, and there is more water coming through than it can handle, then there is overflow going to the shower. The water pressure can’t be more than what is available coming in, so that should be regulated for the whole house; if it’s too high, valves could fail elsewhere.
