What does lower voltage mean on a Prevost bus?
Anything lower or higher is an indication there may be a problem. Keep in mind however these values are for the chassis when the bus is not connected to shore power or the generator is not running. These are also voltage values taken at the batteries with an accurate multimeter.
Where is the 24 Volt Post on a Prevost coach?
Connect the red lead to a 24 volt post on the bank of chassis batteries (refer to the wiring diagram on the inside of the RH side chassis door). Your multimeter used in this fashion is gong to give you precise readings. The gauge inside the coach may be less precise because there is a current drop when the voltage passes through a long run of wire.
Where is the multimeter on a Prevost chassis?
You can do the same system check with your multimeter. Connect the black lead to a bare metal spot on the chassis. Connect the red lead to a 24 volt post on the bank of chassis batteries (refer to the wiring diagram on the inside of the RH side chassis door). Your multimeter used in this fashion is gong to give you precise readings.
Why does my AC drop when I throw the breaker?
Again, carboned loose resistive electrical connections (panel or wiring or AC unit or too small wire) can cause a voltage drop such that at the AC unit itself the voltage is low WHICH IS WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THE VOLTAGE AND CURRENT RIGHT AT THE UNIT.
What causes high current draw on AC breaker?
If you have damage or blockage to air flow over the condensor you will get high compressor current draw. When checking the condensor you HAVE to remove the cover and look at the inside of the condenser, follow the air flow. If you have any doubt take a hose and flush it out, I made a lot of beer money with a little water and a hose.
