Why does my pool pump lose its prime?
Leaks on the pump’s intake line as well as around the shaft seal of the pump housing itself can cause your pump to lose its prime. Obstruction-One possible reason your pump may be losing its prime is an obstruction or blockage in a line. Debris blocking the suction strainer or foot valve is the most common cause.

Why is my Hayward Super pump not priming?
I have a hayward super pump II. It is not priming on its own. To get it to prime I must shut all 3 intake valves from my skimmers and the main drain, put water in the basket, turn on the pump and then 1/2 way open the closest skimmer. I must do this 3 times to get the thing to prime.
