Why does my kitchen tap keep losing pressure?

We have a single mixer tap in the kitchen and the pressure for the cold water is brilliant but the hot water keeps losing pressure to the point where it only comes out in a trickle. As it is a single tap we know it is not a problem with the tap itself but also the water pressure in all bathroom taps and shower is perfect.

Why is there no pressure in my hot water tap?

All other taps are fine – hot and cold in kitchen, fine – hot and cold on bath, fine, cold water on bathroom basin, fine. But the hot water tap runs at a trickle to the point that it eventually runs out and and stops completely, no water at all.

What causes low hot water pressure in kitchen sink only?

If this is the case, the issue will not be isolated to your kitchen, but seen across the home and in both hot and cold faucets; the more taps you have on, the lower the pressure. This is because the distribution of the water reduces the pressure across the whole house.

Why is my hot water not working in the bathroom?

When the plumbers came back a couple of weeks later to flush the system, they improved the pressure to the hot water tap in the kitchen, but now the pressure to the hot water tap on the bathroom basin wasn’t so good.

How to troubleshoot a low hot water pressure?

A good strategy for diagnosing low hot water flow is to begin looking for problems at the water heater and work toward the faucet valve. Make sure that the hot water outlet valve on the water heater is open all the way by turning it counterclockwise as far as it will go. Check the hot water flow in other faucets in the house.
