Why does my air conditioner fan stay on when the compressor goes off?
Our York package unit is about 15 years old. We purchased the house with it. At the suggestion of our maintenance company we had the contact switch replaced. As soon as that was done the fan would not turn off with the compressor. Techs came back and said it was the thermostat, so that was changed, the problem still occurred.
When does the air circulation fan shut off?
From the beginning, the outside unit (compressor) would shutdown after about 45 minutes of running, but the air circulation fan would continue to run. We have the original thermostat also which blinks a code and according to the manuals we got withthe system, there must be either a timer or temperature shutoff on the compressor to protect it.
