Why do I have two grey water tanks?

My Keystone has 2 gray tanks. One is for the kitchen sink and the other is for the shower and bath sink. They both drain from the same outlet as the black tank, you just pull 2 different handles to empty either gray tank. There is a 3rd handle for the black tank.

I have 2 40 gal gray tanks… one for the kitchen and one for the bath… all are plumbed to one outlet with the black at one outlet, and each has their own valve…the 2nd tank valve is tied in after the 1st tank valve and they operate independently from each other…

Grey water is all the water used in your RV, except what goes to flush the toilet. That water is called black water. The water used for everything else — showering, cooking, washing dishes, and all other water-related activities — goes into the grey water tank. Both grey and black water tanks drain into the same outlet but have different valves.
Where is the gate on a grey tank?
Many of us who have two gray tanks (those on our 2016 337 are of equal size) have put an external gate valve (Valtera makes a good one – you can order it from Amazon) at the end of the waste water drain outside. With the black tank valve closed, we keep this external gate valve closed and both gray tanks open.
