What causes sound of water running through house?
I suspect the sound is from the drain pipes, and comes from a leaky toilet, beacause that’s the most common thing that has a stored reservoir of water to keep leaking after you shut off the main valve. You might try leaving the main water valve shut off for several hours.

Can you hear water running in shower wall?
Could hear water running in pipes in wall in master bath (one wall on backside of shower and the other just adjacent to that), but no faucets or shower on, no leaky toilets eithe, no outside spigots on either. Even closed lines to toilets just to make sure, but still could hear sound of water running.
