Why are my baseboard heaters gurgling?
Bent fins can rub together causing a ticking or pinging sound as the element expands and contracts. Access the bleeder valves at one end of your baseboard heater to remove air from the system. By bleeding the water baseboard heaters, you may silence bubbling or gurgling noises.
Why does my heater make gurgling noises?
Rust, sediment, and mineral buildup in the tank are typically the cause of hot water heater gurgling noises. This is common in older water heaters, as they are more prone to rust and buildup. If there’s a lot of scaling or sediment build-up when the heated water rises it creates the gurgling sound.
How hot do hot water baseboard heaters get?
180°
Typical hot water baseboard radiation systems use standard supply water temperatures of 180° which is circulated through the copper and aluminum fin tube piping arrangement to heat the desired space and returns back to the boiler at approximately 160° (20° Delta T).
Why does my baseboard heater make a gurgling noise?
Gurgling and trickling sounds due to air bubbles or pressure can be solved by opening the pressure release valve and bleeding the line as you would for a banging noise. If it isn’t solved by removing air bubbles, it may be due to low pressure.
Why does my hot water make a gurgling noise?
I know they make some pinging and stuff here and there but was excited to have this radiant heat instead of blowing vents and ductwork. Everytime the thermostat kicks the heat on, the first minute or so of the water flowing results in gurgling/bubbling noises from the baseboards.
Is there a way to stop a noisy baseboard heater?
Simple solutions for stopping noisy baseboard heaters. WARNING: Before doing anything related to pulling covers off electric baseboard heaters or thermostats, remember to turn off the circuit breaker for the baseboard heaters and their control system.
What kind of heat does a baseboard heater have?
I have hot water baseboard heat and an American Standard Gas Boiler from the early 1970s. I have 2 heating zones. The heat has been working fine (coming on when it should, raising the temperature, turning off when it should). But the baseboards have been quite loud lately.

What to do about noisy hydronic baseboard heater?
Wipe and vacuum the dust off the heater and out of the fins. Be careful not to damage the fins, though. Bleed air out of hydronic baseboard systems at the beginning of each heating season too.
What kind of noise does a baseboard make?
It is loud and wakes me up in the middle of the night. After a few minutes, the baseboards quiet down and all I hear is trickling noises like a babbling brook (not sure if that is normal either but I can deal with that noise).
