Which way does a sand filter handle go?
You may see “filter”, “backwash”, “winterize”, etc. You want to make sure you always turn the handle in a clockwise direction. Going back and forth between clockwise and counter clockwise will unseat and damage the gaskets inside the valve.
Why does my Hayward pool turn one direction?
If it now turns in only one direction, there is a problem with the “Pod”, “a-frame” and/or “turbine” connection. One side may be loose or worn causing it to track in one direction. Contact your Hayward Authorized dealer for repair. Hose is coiling. Cleaner hoses when removed from the pool should not be coiled up for storage.
Where is the flow switch on a Hayward heater?
The flow switch is not in the cell for the Hayward systems. It is in a separate tee fitting, which is right before the heater I see in the picture. That is not very good placement for the flow switch, but as long as it works….

My SWCG is pentair so not sure if it makes a difference but, my manual has specific guidance for placement after the heater and straightline distance from the heater outlet to the cell. It also has a flow direction marking on the cell itself to ensure correct installation.

The Hayward pool pump works well because it creates a vacuum environment. Ensuring the pool hoses are securely attached prevents water from escaping and air from entering the system. Air in the system will prevent the filter from operating. Step 2
