Where should the handle be on a skimmer?
The guys who opened the pool said to turn the handle so that the handle part is catercorner with the tail lower right and the front pointing up and left. Where should that handle be pointed to have equal water pull from the skimmers. Can I make one skimmer pull more or when I adjust that valve am I just lessening the pull from both skimmers.
When to switch from skimmer to main drain?
When the valve is rotated so the pointer on it is directed away from the pool, all suction is switched to the skimmer. In normal operation, the valve is usually adjusted so the pointer is midway between the two settings. This divides suction force evenly between the skimmer and the main drain.
How to adjust the flow of a skimmer?
Select one convenient skimmer and remove the cover and Float Valve Assembly. Place the vacuum plate on the basket. Fill the vacuum hose with water and insert over the hose adapter. Throttle down the flow from the other skimmer(s) until desired suction is obtained through vacuum. Diverter Plate
Where is the diverter valve on a skimmer?
Drawing all water through the main drain avoids sucking air into the skimmer inlet. A diverter valve is typically installed in the bottom of the skimmer box below the strainer basket. A pointer on one side of the valve indicates the setting.

Is the skimmer and cleaner valve open or closed?
For the cleaner to operate at maximum efficiency, only the skimmer and cleaner valves should be open. No other valves should be open. Valves are positioned for a suction cleaner.
