What to do if your power awning won’t retract?
Remove the plastic covers from both ends of the awning and look for any damaged bearings or broken gears on the motor side. If you tried connecting 12V directly to the motor during the electrical checks and nothing happened your motor is dead. Or if like mine, it makes a lot of noise and moves very slowly, it needs to be replaced.
How do you remove an awning from a RV?
Use the manual override if the motor is completely dead. Tie the awning arms off to the bracket where it attaches to the side of your RV. Do this on both ends. This prevents the awning from unrolling completely when the motor is removed. Remove the front and back covers from the motor on the right side of the awning.

Why is my Dometic WeatherPro awning not working?
Our awning motor I believe is failing. It will work sometimes but is getting worse. Motor sounds to be in a bind. I will start to move and will stop. We can start it again shortly and go a ways and stop. It will come back in if we continue with this.Needless to say I need to fix this. It appears to be the original on our Teton.
Is there spring tension on an electric awning?
Yes, electric awnings are under spring tension. You Tube is your friend. I replaced the electric motor in our awning a couple of years ago. Mine quit altogether and smelled burned up so I knew it was dead.
