Where is the recirculation line on my water heater?
I have a dedicated 1/2″ recirculation line back to the water heater tank via a tee at the drain valve. I’ve purchased a new pump (Grundfos UP 15-29) to replace original 15yo. There’s a check valve located just upstream of this pump. However, I’ve seen drawings with the check valve downstream of the pump & upstream of the tee to drain line.

How is a hot water recirculating pump connected to a water heater?
Take the discharge line that had originally been connected to your water heater and screw onto the discharge outlet of the pump. Confirm that the flow arrow on the pump housing is pointing away from the hot water heater. Double check that all connections are a tight fit.
Why does my diesel heater collect water at the low point?
One of the byproducts of the diesel heater’s combustion is water: If there’s a bend in the pipe that’s lower than the exhaust outlet, water will collect there. The exhaust pipe should slope slightly downwards to prevent water from collecting at the low point.
