Where is the air release valve on my pool pump?
Look for your air relief valve which you will probably find on top of pool filter housing, often just below or behind your pressure gauge. With air in the system the pressure gauge is unlikely to be showing a reading. With the pump running on the filter setting, slowly open the valve.

We got the pump replaced (Pentair) and all the instructions I have found says to open the air valve, fill up the pump basket with water, put cap on and turn on. As pointed out, there is no air relief valve, and my pump only fills up to near the top of the basket, then drains out somewhere.
