Where are the cable connectors on a slide out trailer?
On our trailer, these items are hidden by trim pieces at the top of the room. To access the cable connectors we had to remove the trim at the top of the slide out room.
What makes an electric slide out trailer bad?
Just like chain-drive garage door openers, our powered slide-out is also chain-driven, which means it is inexpensive to manufacture and can be prone to problems if it was not adjusted properly when the RV or trailer was manufactured. The electric drive motor has two gears; drives one chain: one for each side of the slide-out room.
Why did my slide out cable come loose?
But it works and works well as long it is inspected and maintained. The jam nut that secures the adjustment rod on the right side “out” cable connector on the chain had come loose so both “out” cables were disconnected. That is why one side moved out and the other stayed in place.
Can you buy a new slide out cable?
One cannot just buy a matching cable, because the originals were installed during manufacture and a made-to-length replacement cable is not available. However a new “universal” cable kit without the threaded rod is slid in and then using ferrules and a special crimping tool, and along with an eye-bolt, the new cable is connected to the fixture.
How does a hydraulic slide work on a coach?
The hydraulic system uses hydraulic principles to multiply the force exerted by the pump in order to apply the force necessary to move heavy slides, or to raise and lower a coach that has an auto-leveling system. The pump motor requires a considerable amount of power to do its job, if only for a short time.
What happens when hydraulic slide starts and stops?
Also, just like pulling your RV from a stop, when the hydraulic pump pulls from a stop, it has to overcome the inertia of the slideout’s resting position. And in some cases, the slideout has to be raised a little from its resting position. The additional work effort by the pump at these times requires additional mechanical power.
How does the Lippert hydraulic slideout system work?
To optimize slideout actuation, park coach on solid and level ground. The Lippert Hydraulic Slideout System is a rack & pinion guide system, utilizing a hydraulic actuator to move the room assembly. The power unite drives the cylinder rod in a forward and backward motion to drive the slide room in and out.
How does the electric slide out system work?
1. Verify the battery is fully charged and hooked-up to the electrical system. 2. Press and hold the IN/OUT switch (Fig. 1C) in the IN position until the room is fully retracted and stops moving. 3. Release the switch, which will lock the room into position.
