When to reset rollout switch open in Raypak pool heater?
The older models have a reset. The newest ones must be replaced. They have made the same change on a lot of furnaces. They really are not even supposed to be reset since the fact that it tripped indicates an issue. Could be related to gas pressure or most likely the fuel/air ratio has to be adjusted.
When to replace the roll out sensor on a Raypak?
Check and make sure that all the burners are firing properly and blue. Roll out occurs when either the exchanger is sooted up, or you have one or more clogged burners. Roll out sensor is one time use, no reset and must be replaced (if it is open). Yes, my rollout sensor is currently toast and needs to be replaced.
Why does Raypak pool heater display error : Water SW open?
The heater will only operate for a short time before it cuts off and displays the message “Water Sw Open.” I googled this and most seem to advise an adjustment to the water pressure switch. Is the rollout switch on my Raypak 156 open?
I have a Raypak 156 heater on my spa powered by propane. I replaced the rollout switch, but it opened again after a few uses, suggesting the switch was doing its job properly. Makeup air seemed unobstructed, and the exhaust flue was clean, so I decided to bite the bullet and dig into the heater guts. Following the Raypak YouTube instructions

Shine a light down from the top, and take that picture again. It will give you an idea of how obstructed it is. Click to expand… this is it not too much light. This heater is still rolling out after i cleaned the orifices and burners. the rollout happens right under the rollout switch which i assume is by design.
How much does it cost to replace a Raypak roll out sensor?
Switch is a one time use and needs to be replaced AND THE PROBLEM FIXED! Dont just replace the roll out sensor and expect it to work for long. Dont pay more than about 15 dollars for it either. Historically, the exact same Jandy part (R0012200) is a fraction of what Raypak had wanted. Shine a light down from the top, and take that picture again.
