Why did KWC replace the pull out faucet?
KWC did replace that. The pullout spray hose split because the fitting broke. KWC replaced this as well. The replacement handle and pullout spray were a waste because of the frozen faucet body though. I ended up replacing the KWC faucet with a Hansgrohe.

What to do if your KWC kitchen faucet freezes?
KWC Customer Service will try and send you a silicone ring repair kit. The only way to get the kit installed is to essentially destroy the faucet. Read the reviews and ask your plumber. If you can, try to get KWC Customer Service to replace the whole faucet if it becomes frozen.
