When did my Raypak pool heater come on?
Moderator – Marty Was wondering if someone could please help me out on this; I have a Raypak Natural Gas Heater (auto start) bought and installed in 2013 and just turned it on to heat the pool and it’s reading “Rollout SW Open”.
Is the rollout switch on my Raypak 156 open?
I have a Raypak 156 heater on my spa powered by propane. I replaced the rollout switch, but it opened again after a few uses, suggesting the switch was doing its job properly. Makeup air seemed unobstructed, and the exhaust flue was clean, so I decided to bite the bullet and dig into the heater guts. Following the Raypak YouTube instructions
Why does my Raypak heater keep reading open?
Also check the system board to make sure no critters got on it. You can use a meter to check the switch and see if it is in fact reading open. You’re probably getting flames flashing back into the cabinet. This might be due to a sooted exchanger.
Do you need to replace the roll out sensor on a Raypak pool?
If you have spiders in the equipment area, its probably the latter. Switch is a one time use and needs to be replaced AND THE PROBLEM FIXED! Dont just replace the roll out sensor and expect it to work for long. Dont pay more than about 15 dollars for it either.
Why is the switch on my Raypak heater not working?
This dangling switch is right by the burners then and when the units lights, its possible for the switch to trip open. In any case this unit is under warranty. Hopefully your installer is also a warranty person for Raypak. Call them and have them come back and look at why the switch failed.

What should I do if my Raypak pool heater is open?
My first suggestion is to thoroughly clean the filter, and make certain the pump basket and skimmer basket is clean of any leaves or debris.
Where do I find the fault code on my Raypak pool?
They are also equipped with onboard diagnostic controls. If there is a safety fault, a fault code will be displayed along with a service indication. (see pic on right) The word “SERVICE” will flash on and off if the PC board detects a known issue. The fault code is displayed in 3 big letters in the lower left of the display.
