What to do when Jayco Outback van breaks down?
If you see a wash out coming, slow down and creep over it. Drop your electric breaks down so you do not drag sharp rocks under the tread. If you cannot slow down in time, you are driving too fast. Take your time and the van will make it. An expensive van can break as well if a clown is at the controls.
When did Jayco come out with roof lift?
Jayco camping trailers, which first came on the market in 1968, use a winch and a system of cables, pulleys, drive slugs, flexible push rod springs, and telescoping posts to raise and lower the roof. When the roof lift system fails, the problem is usually a broken cable or cable attachment.
What happens when you wind down a Jayco camper?

Can you take a Jayco down to Port Warrender?
Definitely do not attempt to take the trailer down to Port Warrender. Well, ideally you would carry two spares for the Jayco as well. In part it depends how much you tend to worry. It is stressful to put on the spare and then drive on a rough road, knowing that if something goes wrong, there is no other spare…
How is the fridge connected to the Jayco Hawk?
If so: Later Jaycos use a 12 pin plug and the fridge is connected to two of the extra heavy duty 35A pins on this plug. If this is the case, there is heaps of information on this forum relating to the difficulties of connecting the fridge to the car. It is not usual to have the fridge connected to the battery in the van.
What to do if your Jayco camper cable is inoperable?
If the winch is inoperable, the roof can be raised manually by two people. Brace the roof and measure its height from all four corners. Make certain that no corner is more than 1/2 inch higher than any other. With the bracing in place, crank the winch down to remove tension from the cables.
When to go to Cape York with Jayco Outback?
Just discovered your site it looks great and just what we need. Requested your free planning guide, thank you. Planning to go around mid June towing Jayco Outback and understand that northern section of OTT would probably be too much to do, having seen various blogs of gunshot and various creek crossing.
Where to cross Wenlock River with Jayco Outback?
You’d get to the Wenlock river crossing at the most, then there is a descent too steep for the Jayco and you won’t get any further. From the other side you’d get to Pascoe and pretty much the same thing although not quite as steep (the river crossings are by far the best fun on Frenchman’s).
