What to do if your solenoid is not connecting?
Since you can’t readily see or access the solenoids, you can attempt to troubleshoot the problem from behind the switch panel. Turn both switches to the “use” or “connect” position. Since you did not indicate which solenoid was not switching, try the following.
How does the battery disconnect switch work on a coach?
They are small loads but may in a weeks time completely discharge the battery. In our coach the battery disconnect switch activates a solenoid which switches the battery circuit on and off. You haven’t indicated the make, model and year of your coach so this may or may not apply to your situation.
When to replace the solenoid on an RV?
If so, you have a faulty switch. If the same solenoid still doesn’t work, then the solenoid is faulty and needs to be replaced. Any other problem would likely indicate a problem with the control panel itself. Remember to return the switch wiring to their original positions.
How many fuses does a solenoid need?
Assuming you have an Intellitec battery disconnect system, my first inclination is that one or both of the fuses on the solenoid is blown. There should be two fuses mounted on top of each battery solenoid and it appears it’s time to check them for continuity.
Since you can’t readily see or access the solenoids, you can attempt to troubleshoot the problem from behind the switch panel. Turn both switches to the “use” or “connect” position. Since you did not indicate which solenoid was not switching, try the following.
When to use a solenoid on a motorhome?
Home > MONACO/HOLIDAY RAMB/FLEETWOOD/PARTS > Electrical & Lighting > Relay & Solenoids/Batt. Cutoff Motorhome battery disconnect relays are a simple way to conserve your battery’s power when the vehicle won’t be in use for several weeks at a time.
How is the solenoid connected to the chassis battery bank?
The BLACKwire is connected to the Charge Solenoid “Chassis Battery” terminal which is wired to the Chassis Battery Bank. The WHITEwire was connected to the Charging Solenoid’s coil used to energize the Charging Solenoid when the ignition is on, which in turn connects the Chassis and House/Coach Battery Banks together while the RV is running.
They are small loads but may in a weeks time completely discharge the battery. In our coach the battery disconnect switch activates a solenoid which switches the battery circuit on and off. You haven’t indicated the make, model and year of your coach so this may or may not apply to your situation.
