What should I do if my water pump is not pumping?
Hopefully its an easy fix. Pull down the gearcase and attach the hose directly to the water tube. Slowly put on pressure. Water should come almost immediately to the pee hose. Increase pressure (above 20PSI), the thermostat should be pushed back and water flow out the exhaust.

Why does my water pump not go in gear?
If so, you changed the shift rod height, and it has to be dead on the right length of it won’t shift. Either that, or you reconnected it with it in gear and the controls not in gear. Oh, and you did reconnect the shift linkage, right?
How did I install a new water pump?
I installed a new water pump kit including a new housing, impeller, all the various gaskets, o-rings, etc. as per the instructions. All appeared to go fine with the installation; however, I did have a little trouble hooking up the rubber hose to the copper line.
