What kind of Raypak wont ignite the pilot?
I have a Raypak p-r266a-ep-c that’s about 5 years old, and I went to fire it up today and the pilot won’t ignite. Its the digital version and I got the manual and did the troubleshooting.
Do you need to troubleshoot a Raypak pool heater?
Effective Raypak pool heater troubleshooting is all about knowing what to look for, and what the signs mean. Although all pool heat pumps need maintenance to maintain performance, a bit of troubleshooting can save you a lot of time. When you know what’s causing a problem with your pool heater, then fixing it is way simpler.
How to tell if your Raypak 206A gas valve is off?
Just offhand it looks like your gas valve is in the “off” position. Push down and rotate the knob on the gas valve 180 degrees counterclockwise so that the “on” designation on the gas valve knob is lined up with the protrusion on top of the gas valve that has a red dot on it. Faint click is a good sign.
What should PV-MV / PV check on a Raypak pool?
MV- MV/PV is checking voltage for the main gas valve solenoid after the pilot is lit. You should be checking PV-MV/PV to see if the pilot solenoid of the gas valve is getting 24V. But you also need check LP supply pressure and outlet pressure from the gas valve and possibly the pilot orifice if both inlet and outlet pressure measured good.

What to do if your Raypak boiler locks out?
3)Gas knob in “Pilot” position. 3)Turn knob to “ON” position. 4) For automatic ignition models, gas valve knob is in “OFF” position. 4)Turn gas knob to “ON”. If ignition module locks out, reset by interrupting power to boiler.
Why is my Raypak pool light not working?
Clogged orifice yes can be cleaned but if it is dirty or otherwise clogged, the pilot assembly may also be corroded to the point you may break it taking it apart. New assembly is < $100. Stuck or failed PV solenoid (gas valve) or could also be a bad or chewed wire to the gas valve.

You should be checking PV-MV/PV to see if the pilot solenoid of the gas valve is getting 24V. But you also need check LP supply pressure and outlet pressure from the gas valve and possibly the pilot orifice if both inlet and outlet pressure measured good. Sometimes the voltage is a plus/minus of what you should have.
Why does my Raypak heater not light the pilot?
I turn it on and hear the ignition trying to light the pilot light but the pilot does not light. Clogged orifice? If so, can these be unclogged with a lighter or do they need to be disassembled?
Why do you need a Raypak pool heater?
Your Raypak pool heater keeps your pool comfortable throughout the seasons. So naturally, it gets a lot of use during that time. While pool heat pumps are built to provide countless hours of heat, they still need maintenance to stay at peak performance.
What should the spark be on a Raypak pool?
Note: you should get ~28-32V between the PV and the MV/PV connections on the gas valve during pilot IGN. No spark AT THE point of ign.
Do you have visual proof of pilot lit or not lit?
Pilot IS lit, but it igniter is still buzzing making you think it has not lit, which would be a different problem (for you) to diagnose. Do you have visual proof of pilot lit or not lit?
