What kind of pilot does Hayward H300 pool heater use?
On my Hayward H300….Pilot light was hard to light, flame was yellow. It was very hard to get the flame to even stay lit. Every time I got the pilot to stay on….when I tried to turn unit on…the pilot would go out. I was about to buy a new pool heater, ordered this part as a last possible solution. I worked like a miracle!

I have a Hayward H250 millivolt heater (natural gas), and the pilot won’t stay lit when the button is released. 1) The thermopile seems to be putting out very little voltage – when first lit it starts around 8mv, and after 2 minutes only reaches 18mv. 2) The pilot is a bright orange flame, like a candle, not blue as I suspect it should be.

Why is my Hayward H250 pool heater not starting?
For example, the heater should not startup unless the pump is running and water is flowing through the heater. If you are doing this test with the pump off, you can jump across the flow sensor and the heater may start, but the flow sensor is correctly detecting the lack of flow.
