A properly installed well cap separates potential pollutants from your drinking water. The cap, which should be sealed tightly at all times, keeps out everything from liquid contaminants to bugs that can crawl inside a well and wreak havoc.

How to replace the cap on a well pump?
1 Take off the hex nuts that hold the cap in place with a socket wrench. 7/16″ is a common size for many caps. 2 Lift the well cap off the well housing. 3 Pull up the extra wire and wire nuts. Inspect nuts for tightness and wire for damage.
