What is a hydraulic leveling system?
Hydraulic Leveling Systems A hydraulic leveling system is generally stronger than a hand-crank or electric system and is usually controlled via a panel of buttons near the driver’s seat.
How do I know what hydraulic oil to use?
So, for a hydraulic oil to be useful it needs to have the below properties:
- Non-compressible.
- Thermally stable, within a range of operating temperatures.
- Fire resistance.
- Non-corrosive to its system.
- Anti-wearing to its system.
- Low tendency to cavitate.
- Tolerance to water (resistance to water contamination)
What kind of fluid do you use for Lippert auto leveling?
I checked with Lippert and the fluid recommended for their hydraulic auto leveling system is automatic transmission fluid with Dexron III or Mercon 5 fluid. @RichardE there is a mark on the id tag that says fill line here.
Can you tell me what product to use for hydraulic fluid?
Hello, I have a 2018 Fuzion 369 5th wheel that has the Lippert Hydraulic auto leveling system. Can you tell me what product to use for hydraulic fluid?
Where does the fluid go in a hydraulic system?
Both the inlet to the pump and the return valve are hooked up to a hydraulic reservoir. These are also called “open center” systems, because of the open central path of the control valve when it is neutral. In this case, hydraulic fluid returns to the reservoir. The fluid coming from the pump goes to the device and then returns to the reservoir.
How can you tell if your hydraulic fluid is low?
Here are three easy detectable symptoms to be aware of when your hydraulic fluid is low. Abnormal Noise – Natural elements can affect your hydraulic systems. Aeration occurs when air contaminates with hydraulic fluid. This can create a banging or knocking noise when it compresses and decompresses through the system.

What kind of fluid do you use for hydraulic jacks?
I can’t recall ever seeing one that used hydraulic fluid. “The use of HWH Specialty Hydraulic Oil is recommended but Dexron or multipurpose transmission fluids can be used if necessary. DO NOT use hydraulic jack oil, brake fluid, or power steering fluid.”
Is it OK to use Type F hydraulic fluid?
The Lippert products all call for ATF, but specifically say to not use Type F, as it will cause seal failure. One thing to understand is, ATF is hydraulic fluid, it just has a dye in it and special additives to help it work in transmissions.
