What is a CSC valve?
CSC valve – the valve is locked close. Without lock key, the valve cannot be opened. Example is the PSV bypass line. The valve on the PSV bypass line must be closed all the time except that the PSV is removed for emergency service.
What are the purposes of CSC CSO in piping?
Generally used on process critical valves to prevent inadvertent or accidental operation of the valve. Car Seals (CSC) on lever operated ball valves, isolating a safety relief valve.
What is Carseal?
Car seals are used to seal valves in the open/closed positions. Very simply, the terms describe the need to lock (seal) a valve to prevent operation either in the open or closed position. The device to achieve this is a Car Seal. The term derives from a device used to seal the cargo on railway cars.
What is a Carseal valve?
Car seal devices lock or ‘seal’ a valve in the open, closed or mid position to prevent unauthorized operation of the valve. Valve operation can only take place by cutting the seal, thereby giving evidence of either tampering, or activity by an authorized worker.
What is locked open valve?
The Locked open valves are a kind of isolation valves on the inlet and outlet of a PSV that must remain open during normal operation in order that they can protect the equipment on which they are mounted.
What is a CSO in engineering?
The title chief security officer (CSO) was first used principally inside the information technology function to designate the person responsible for IT security. Increasingly, CSO means what it sounds like: The CSO is the executive responsible for the organization’s entire security posture, both physical and digital.
What does CSO mean?
Chief Security Officer
A Chief Security Officer (CSO) is the employee responsible for the physical security of a company, including its communication and business systems. The job of a CSO is to protect people, assets, infrastructure and technology.
What is CSC in a car?
The CSC is a hydraulic cylinder with an integrated release bearing which eliminates the clutch lever and the conventional release bearing. It is connected to the master cylinder via the hose. Advantage of the CSC is to eliminate the fork and the release bearing.
How do you unlock a valve?
To unlock the valve from its open position, the key has to be inserted into the interlock’s right-hand key insert position. When this has been done, the operator is able to operate the valve by turning the hand wheel or sliding lever to the closed position.
What is a CSO salary?
CSO Salary
| Annual Salary | Hourly Wage | |
|---|---|---|
| Top Earners | $217,500 | $105 |
| 75th Percentile | $73,000 | $35 |
| Average | $85,609 | $41 |
| 25th Percentile | $33,500 | $16 |
What does CSC stand for in valve category?
The valve on the PSV bypass line must be closed all the time except that the PSV is removed for emergency service. CSO and CSC are NOT the same means of restriction as Locked Open and Locked Closed. Locked valves are shown as LO and LC on PIDs and use either a padlock and chain or a proprietary valve lock. CSO stands for Car Sealed Open.
What is the definition of Lo, LC, CSC?
Does any one here know of an authoritative source (ASME, ISA, NFPA, OSHA, etc..) that gives a definition for the following in one of their standards or codes and the number for that standard or code: LO (Valve Locked Open) LC (valve Locked Closed) CSO (Valve Car Sealed Open)
Which is an example of a CSO valve?
CSO valve – the valve is locked open. Without lock key, the valve cannot be closed. example is the isolation valve upstream/downstream of a PSV. CSC valve – the valve is locked close.
What are the standards for a ball valve?
UPC / cUPC – Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and Canadian Uniform Plumbing Code (cUPC) ensure that plumbing products are safe and sanitary. ANSI – American National Standards Institute tests ball valves to various standards. The standards are stamped on the ball valve, ie ANSI Z21.15.

What does CSO stand for in valve category?
CSO stands for Car Sealed Open. The Car Seal is nothing more than a wire loop with a lead seal across its ends, through the valve wheel or lever. It does not require a key to operate, just a wire cutter, so it is not as secure as a genuine lock. Both a Locked valve and a Car Sealed valve “should” require a written permit to operate,…

What do the numbers mean on a ball valve?
They are found on the valve body as a number with either WOG or CWP under it. The number represents the pressure rating, ie a 600 with CWP under it would mean the valve is rated to 600 PSI CWP. WSP stands for Working Steam Pressure and defines the pressure of steam in a system that a ball valve can be used in.
