What does Pentair freeze protection do?
Today’s variable speed pumps all have a built-in freeze protection feature. When the temperature inside the pump drops below this setpoint, it will turn the pump on for a few minutes, then turn it off until the temperature drops again inside the pump.
How does freeze protection work?
Freeze protection works with a sensor that measures the outside air temperature and turns on the pool pump when the low threshold is reached. More advanced pool controllers can also open any closed valves, and turn on other pumps, like booster pumps or waterfall pumps.
What to do if your Pentair pool goes into freeze protection mode?
All you have to do as a user is slide the “Freeze Protection Mode” toggle within the Pentair Home app. If the outdoor temperature drops below the designated temp within the app, your IntelliConnect can automatically turn on your pump to a preset speed to deliver added peace of mind.
