Why is my fresh water tank overflowing in my RV?
The camp host knocked on our door and informed us that water was leaking out of our 5th wheel. Upon further investigation, we discovered that water was indeed pouring out of our fresh water tank!! Somehow, the city water connection was filling my fresh water tank causing it to overflow! I didn’t even know this was possible!!

When to turn off fresh water tank in RV?
If you are hooked to city water and leaving your RV, we strongly recommend turning off your water at the city inlet. If you are using water from your tank instead – always turn the pump switch off, prior to leaving! It has happened to many people – they come home to open their RV door and a flood of water gushes out! Opps!!!!!
Why does my freshwater tank keep filling up?
There is a one-way check-valve inside of the water pump and this often gets dislodged and stuck open. When this happens, water from the city water connection can flow backwards through the pump and into the freshwater tank.
Where does the water come from for a fresh water tank?
I don’t find an external valve. City water inlet flows through a T connector to the fresh water tank. The other part of the T connector comes from the water pump which is obviously after the fresh water tank. The third part of the T connector goes to the faucets etc.
