Is the radiator in my bedroom piping hot?
All other radiators and the two ladders are piping hot (except a pretty old looking radiator in our bedroom which gets warm but not scolding hot like the others). Where do I start?
What’s the most common mistake when installing radiators?
This is a very common mistake when adding radiators to the system, such as an extension or loft conversion. It can be easily overcome by balancing the radiators. This is done by slightly closing some of the valves to force the water to take a different path. Mistake 4 – Pipe sizes
How many radiators do I have in my house?
First child expected in 6.5weeks so I could do with making sure the heating is all working nicely. We have 7 radiators and 2 flat ladder towel radiators in the house. 3 rads + 1 ladder upstairs. I’ve bled all the radiators and made sure all the valves are open (no thermostats on radiators).
Is it bad to oversize your Radiator?
Rule-of-thumb methods often oversize the radiator so as to make sure there are no complaints that the space stays cold, but what no-one ever tells you is that a grossly oversized radiator can cause other problems within the system.
What happens when you swap a single radiator for a double?
Not open for further replies. I recently swapped a single radiator for a double which is significantly deeper than the original single, but the same length. This means that the pipework no longer lines up as the radiator tail is now at least 30mm further from the wall with the valve staying in the same position.

Why does my radiator not line up with the wall?
This means that the pipework no longer lines up as the radiator tail is now at least 30mm further from the wall with the valve staying in the same position. So what I have is the radiator valve closer to the wall than the radiator tail and two obviously don’t line up.
