Is my hot tub supposed to run all the time?
One question we sometimes get asked is should I leave my hot tub on all the time? The answer is yes! Hot tubs are designed to be left on permanently and this is how they work best. Of course, they’ll need to be drained regularly but for the most part, they are left on 24/7.

Can a Balboa hot tub be left on?
The hot tub is left on and by using the modes on the Balboa spa control system, the energy efficiency is improved & savings can be made. All Balboa hot tubs have energy saving modes (standard, economy and sleep) or ready & rest mode for the BP Series. Each mode has its benefits and at least 2 of the modes need to be used to give efficiency.
When does the spa go to sleep mode?
The spa will automatically revert to Economy mode after one hour (or instantly if you press ‘Mode/Prog’). Sleep Mode heats the spa to within 20° of the temperature set-point, but only during filtration cycles. The Sleep icon will be displayed unless the mode is changed. What does it mean when your Spa is in sleep mode?
“Ec” or “Ecn” will appear solid when the temperature is not current and will alternate with the temperature. Sleep mode heats the spa to within 20 F (11 C) of the set temperature only during filter cycles. “Sl” or “SLP” will appear on the display until mode is changed.
What to do if your hot tub does not reset?
DO NOT ENTER THE WATER. Remove the spa cover and allow water to cool. At 107°F, the spa should automatically reset. If spa does not reset, shut off the power to the spa and call customer service. Spa is shut down.
When to turn on jets1 in a hot tub?
In Economy or Sleep mode, the pump may be off for hours outside a filter cycle. If you wish to see the current spa temperature, either switch to Standard mode or turn Jets1 on for at least two minutes.
