All hot tubs lose water due to evaporation and also from splashing and bather use. It’s a normal thing for you to have to top up your hot tub on a regular basis and isn’t anything to worry about if the hot tub is losing an inch or two of water per week on a regular basis.
Can I drain my spa and leave it empty?
Alternately, don’t drain it and leave it empty for extended periods. Water left in the pipes and equipment can grow bacteria biofilm, which is difficult to eradicate. Plus, without water, seals and gaskets become dry and begin to leak. Therefore, make sure to not leave your hot tub sitting empty.
