Is DIRECTV getting rid of the dish?
Nope. It stays there until you decide to remove it, if you decide to at all. We had DTV for about five years, cut the cord for a year, and eventually went back to them. Since the dish was still attached to my roof, all the installer had to do was run new cords from the dish to the entry point on the side of the house.

Before you get off the roof, double check the turret type on the base, you will need it to reprogram the controller. If it is a DirectTV system, it should be marked “LG 2112”. That’s it your’re done on the roof! Now follow the Winegard instructions to reprogram the controller for DISH.
