How does a Marine VacuFlush toilet work?

How does a Marine VacuFlush toilet work?

The SeaLand VacuFlush toilet vacuums waste from the bowl and pumps it to a holding tank or other effluent storage/disposal system. Operated by a foot pedal, the toilet allows the user to add water to the bowl (before using or flushing) by slightly raising the pedal, and to flush the toilet by pressing the pedal down.

What is vacuum toilet?

Vacuum toilets are flush toilets that use suction for the removal of faeces and urine resulting in a minimal requirement of water (0.5 to 1.5 litres). Vacuum toilets provide the same level of comfort as traditional flush toilets and they help saving costs due to the minimised amount of flush water.

How does a vacuum flush work?

The generation units generate the vacuum in the piping using a vacuum pump. When a toilet is flushed, the lower pressure atmospheric air flows into the higher pressure piping through the toilet. The air travels at high velocity because of the pressure difference, carrying the wastewater with it.

How does the vt2500 toilet turn on and off?

Problem is, with a simple kill switch its too easy to forget to turn it off after turning it on to establish vacuum. Something cleverer was needed. The result: a circuit that is activated by a two-way switch, centre off. One way (latched down) turns the VT2500 on and keeps it on.

Are there any problems with the Dometic vt2500 vacuum toilet?

If you have a problem with your vt2500, ring Colin Albright and ‘Sea Breeze’ The best phone I made. Very handy post. Glad there is life after VT2500. They are good when working but oh so bad when not. Please log in to post quick replies.

Why did my Dometic vacuum toilet stop working?

I replaced all the O rings, cassette cap and the big seal under the seat. In the end it just wouldn’t pump up the vacuum the vacuum pump wouldn’t stop. After ringing Dometic and finding out they stopped supplying these about 2 years ago and no other replacement loo to be had scary.

Why is there no power to the vt2500?

An R-C timer feeds into two CMOS NAND gates (with Schmitt trigger activation) in series to control a power MOSFET that switches the power to the VT2500. With the control switch off, the output of the second NAND gate is high, keeping the transistor off which in turn keeps the power MOSFET off. So there is no power to the VT2500.
