How do you troubleshoot a salt cell?
How To Troubleshoot Problems with Your Salt Cell
- “Check Salt” & “Inspect Cell” light is flashing or ON.
- Just the “Inspect Cell” light is ON.
- “High Salt” light is ON.
- “No Flow” light is flashing.
Why is my salt cell not producing chlorine?
The most common concern we get for salt system owners is that the the salt cell is not producing chlorine. However, very often this concern is only triggered because the pool turned green or the water test shows zero free chlorine.
Can a failing cell still read low salt levels?
It’s common for failing cells to read lower salt levels. If it’s 6 years old I’d suspect the cell. Alright, so salinity is measured by temp, voltage, and amperage. This cell still generates and when it does the voltage/amp readings appear normal so what about meddling with the temp sensor?
Why is the salt level in my pool so high?
Your over salting of the pool is not unusual because many people take the reading on their display as the actual salt level in the pool, when in fact it is and average salt level and it may be skewed by a failing cell.
Why does my aquarite read too much salt?
Always have the salt tested independently of the unit to confirm the salt level before adding salt. Your over salting of the pool is not unusual because many people take the reading on their display as the actual salt level in the pool, when in fact it is and average salt level and it may be skewed by a failing cell.

Why is my salt water chlorinator not working?
A malfunctioning salt water chlorinator is every spa and pool owner’s nightmare. A salt chlorinator cell not working causes the water to become murky and dirty with time and most sane people wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole. More often than not, the problem is with the salt cell and not the entire chlorinator system itself.
How to troubleshoot problems with your salt cell?
Starting with the average salt reading. Turn the switch to ‘Off’, then back to ‘Auto’. Wait for the relay to click (about 5 to 10 seconds). Press the ‘Diagnostics’ button 5 times, this will bring up the instant salt reading.
What happens when the salt level in the pool is too high?
Instead the unit will suspend chlorination when the cell’s amperage draw exceeds a certain value. If salt level is above the range, partially drain the pool and/or spa and refill with fresh water to achieve a salt level of 3200ppm, refer to page 9, Step D.
