When to use a foot valve in a jet pump?
A foot-valve is only used in a jet-pump situation (where the pump resides above ground and shoots some water down the well to help lift more water back up).
Why do I need to replace my foot valve on my well pump?
Running your pump without water in the impeller can cause permanent damage or allow the pump to overheat and fail completely. Replacing your foot valve as soon as possible can save your pump. It will also save you the aggravation of manually priming your pump every time you need water.
Where is the check valve on a jet pump?
STEP 2Deep well pumps are always installed with the ejectors or jet attached to the bottom of the suction pipe in the well. A foot valve must be used if the ejector or jet does not have a built in check valve. A tail pipe may be used beneath the ejector or jet with the foot valve mounted on the bottom of the tail pipe.
