How do you replace a foot valve in a shallow well?
Disconnect the union fitting at the wellhead with a pipe wrench. Lift the pipe out of the well and place it flat on the ground. Attach a pipe wrench to the flattened section at the top of the foot valve. Tighten the jaws of the second pipe wrench to the base of the well pipe 2 inches above the foot valve.
Where do you install a foot check valve?
D. Install foot check valve vertically with arrow pointed up in direction of liquid flow. The foot valve shall be installed a maximum of 25 feet vertical distance below the suction pipe of the pump inlet. The foot valve screen shall not be supported at the bottom of tank or well for best operation efficiencies.
What causes a foot valve to stop working on a well?
When the system doesn’t hold pressure on the well side I think there are no leaks in piping, check valves, foot valve, pump body. So when a pump still won’t develop pressure I think that there is an impeller, seal, or voltage problem.
Where is the foot valve on a jet pump?
A foot-valve is located at the bottom of a well and acts like a one-way check-valve allowing water to go up the pipe toward the house but not drain backward into the well. A foot-valve is only used in a jet-pump situation (where the pump resides above ground and shoots some water down the well to help lift more water back up).

How can I tell if my well foot valve is good?
The manufacturer could probably tell us how an undersized or oversized opening shows up in flow rates, lift height, and pressure. Triple check that there are no leaks in the piping or connectors. The pump is brand new, so that is good hopefully. the voltage is correct, I took the tailpiece off and set it for the 110 that we have it wired for.
