How do RV slides work?
RV slide outs work by changing from an extended to retracted position depending on whether your RV is set up for camping or driving. They are typically operated through an electrical system on your RV’s control center, where the push of a button can retract or expand the slide.
What happens when your slide out won’t slide out?
A stubborn slide-out, though, can turn your trip in to a disaster. Either you spend your days climbing over furniture in an attempt to live in an RV with the walls pushed in or you can’t depart for home with a slide-out that refuses to retract for road travel.
Why are the pins on my slideout breaking?
Here is a closeup of the pins where they broke loose from the PCB. You can definatly see the 2 left pins are barely making contact and the others the soilder is cracked. Both boards had the same issue. This would cause high amps on your motor if you have an electric slide, especially on that initial lift.
What’s the best way to retract slideouts?
Every seminar I have attended says to always operate the slides at road level, which means to put them out before leveling the coach and bring them in after raising the jacks. This sets the coach “true” so the slides are not “torqued”, which can cause binding and damage.
Why does my Forest River slideout not work?
The slides on some rigs (like Forest River) will not operate with the ignition or engine running. Safety issue. Other rigs are different. A friend in our chapter had this same problem that he fought for several years. His slideout operated with an electric motor driving 2 parallel rack and pinion sets from a single shaft.
Why did my drawer slide get stuck in the cabinet?
Roadblock! The overhang on the drawer prevented the drawer slide hardware from extending and my drawer got stuck inside the cabinet. After more than 20 minutes of careful maneuvering and a few choice words the drawer was finally free. There was no way I was putting that drawer back in so I had to come up with a solution.
How to plan the placement of drawer slides?
Plan drawer slide placement based on the highest measurement that the drawer will have to clear. So I fixed the drawer width and the height of the slides and thought I was finally done – nope!
Why do you have to retim a schwintek slide out?
The way you’ll know the system has retimed is because both sides would then extend or retract at the same time. The reason we need to run the system in and out three times is to give the system an opportunity to re-sync itself. The Schwintek system has two motors that counts revolutions.
When does a schwintek slide out go out of sync?
Over 70 RV brands use the Schwintek slide-out system from Lippert, and a slide-out can get out of sync. This happens when the two sides are not matching up when fully retracted or fully extended.
