What should I do if my awning is not working?
Ensure that the awning’s outlet is turned on, if necessary, via a wall switch or switch on the outlet itself. Confirm that the awning’s circuit breaker or fuse is still active; the power becomes disconnected when the breaker or fuse detects an electrical fault. Reset the breaker or swap the fuse for a suitable replacement.

Remove the plastic covers from both ends of the awning and look for any damaged bearings or broken gears on the motor side. If you tried connecting 12V directly to the motor during the electrical checks and nothing happened your motor is dead. Or if like mine, it makes a lot of noise and moves very slowly, it needs to be replaced.

I washed out the old grease and with a fiberglass burnishing tool cleaned the copper contacts and added new grease. I then reassembled the switch, it only snaps together and reinstalled it into the control panel. Sure enough, I was back in business with the power awning switch working as good as new!
