Can you reset the lockout on a pool heater?
Electrical surges or a circuit shutdown can disable the lockout, making it necessary to reset the feature. In most cases, you can reset the lockout in a relatively short time by following a standard procedure. Control panel functions and lockout procedures vary somewhat with the manufacturer.
How can I get my pool heater back to automatic mode?
Typically, the maximum lock temperature is two or three degrees higher than the desired water temperature. Press the “Mode” button, and the heater will return to “Standby” mode. Press the “Mode” button again, and select the “Automatic” mode. Reattach the cover to the control panel.
Why is my pool heater not working properly?
Deterioration of the heat exchanger can impact your heater’s operation. Inspect your heat exchanger for chemical or sanitizer damage. Sometimes, your pool heater ignites but doesn’t reach the desired temperature. Or, maybe your heater isn’t generating heat at all.

What to do if your swimming pool heater is not working?
Make sure that the pilot is lit (millivolt heaters). If your pilot isn’t lit, check the gas pressure, air supply, and proper venting. Make sure the pilot tube is intact and not clogged. For MV heaters, if the pilot won’t stay lit, check the output on the thermocouple. Is the gas supply valve in the ON position?

Why is my Raypak pool heater reading open?
You can use a meter to check the switch and see if it is in fact reading open. You’re probably getting flames flashing back into the cabinet. This might be due to a sooted exchanger. Do you have a picture of the inside of the heater?
Why do I need a pressure switch on my pool heater?
Close water features, or alternate them, until the pool heats to the desired temperature. The purpose of the pressure switch is to ensure that water is flowing through the unit before it allows the heater to turn on. The pool pump must be ON and your filter clean for the switch to close and allow voltage to pass through.
