Can a slide out motor be removed from an RV?
If it is a through frame slide out, you can remove the actuator arm from the motor and the mount on the slide out. Once the actuator arm is removed, the room can be slid in with the help of some other people. Do not travel with the arm off though, you would have to add supports inside to prevent the room from extending.
What to do when slide outs don’t move?
Make sure the house batteries are charged completely, or if at all possible, plug your RV into shore power. This will indicate whether the problem may be the batteries or not. If you push the button for the slide outs and can hear the motor running but the slides don’t move, check the motor’s shear pins.
Why is my Lippert slide out not moving?
He explains that when the Lippert slide-out motor runs but the room doesn’t budge, the the synchronizing cylinder that pushes and pulls the room is likely jammed. He talks about the possible causes of the jam, and tells you how to troubleshoot the system to get it working again. With Dave’s help, your slide room will be moving again in no time!
What does it mean when your Slide Room is not working?
This is an indication that there’s an obstruction in the hydraulic system. To help you figure out next steps after you determine the problem lies in the hydraulic system, RV expert Dave Solberg walks you through a quick inspection of the underside of the slide room.

Why is my slide out not working in my RV?
Before you assume that something has broken or is stuck within the slide out mechanism itself, check to see if you are getting enough power from your battery to run the system. You obviously need sufficient voltage from your battery to make the slide out move properly, so an old or worn out battery may be the underlying problem.

Where are the rods that drive the slide out?
The opening is just to the left and below the yellow wire screw caps (first photo with old motor) Square rods that drive the slide bars are attached on both sides of the motor gear box (second photo with new motor). The slide-out that was stuck open is also shown below.
Why is my slide out motor not working?
It apparently has 2 motors which are synchronized to work each end of the slide when I press the extend or retract button. One of the two motors stopped working. My Thor motorhome manual does not show a fuse for the motors in the fuse panel. (1) Is there a fuse for these motors & if so, where will I find them?
What to do if slide out motor does not work?
If you can get another person to help, one can use a multimeter down below at the problematic slide motor and the other up at the slide out switch & test to see if power is even reaching the motor when the switch is turned ON. Be careful… don’t get shocked or pinched under the MH. Was this answer helpful? Thanks for your advice.

Do you need to know slide out mechanism for RV?
We don’t recommend buying or avoiding an RV because of the slide-out mechanism. Buy the RV that works for you and spend some time learning how the slide-out works. You don’t need to be an authority to understand the gist of the system; just know enough to perform visual inspections and a little light maintenance.
