Can a pool filter be used to waste water?
Normally, if hooked up correctly, the pool’s filter system provides plenty of suction because of the constant circulation of water. When vacuuming on waste, the water isn’t circulating, so you’ll need all the suction you can get. Once the vacuum parts are ready to go, turn the pool pump off and dial the filter to the “waste” position.

Where does the water go after it goes through the filter?
In the recirculate setting the water is drawn in through the skimmers as normal and, after passing through the pump, goes straight back into the pool via the inlet jets, waterfall etc without passing through the filter. I don’t think I have ever used the recirculate setting actually.

Why is the waste line leaking in my swimming pool?
Can anyone suggest why the waste line leaks when system is off and also when on circulate (filter) Obviously a brand new valve shouldn’t leak so there has to be something wrong. Start with the most obvious – check the plumbing and make sure it is installed correctly.
Where does the water come from in a pool pump?
Water is drawn in from the pools outlets into the front of the pump, through the hair/lint trap, through the pumping chamber and out the top of the pool pump on its way to the filter. Two important things with pool pumps.
