Can a hot tub also be cold?
With the CoolZone TM hot tub cooling system, your Caldera Spas hot tub can both cool and warm spa water, something not possible with most hot tubs. It works much like an air conditioner, cooling hot tub water to as low as 60 degrees. Of course, you don’t need to go that low for a cooling soak.
How long does it take for a hot tub to freeze?
For a Fully-Foamed hot tub to start to freeze the temperature needs to be below 28 degrees F for at least 36 Hours straight. Even if it does get that cold if your hot tub & pumps are still operating, the water is circulating and will not freeze.
Can a hot tub freeze during a power outage?
Water this hot can often keep its heat for 2-3 days during a power outage. Unheated water combined with low outside temperatures can freeze in only an hour of not circulating. Once frozen (even if the power returns) the spa won’t be able to circulate water and cannot heat itself. Cover up!
What happens if there is no heat in a hot tub?
If the water pumps are running (moving water thru the jets), but there is no heat, it will not freeze as long as they stay running. Spa and Hot Tub shells, pipe works to jets and other vessel connections are insulated but the equipment ( pumps, heaters, etc.) are not because it has to breathe.
Is it safe to use a hot tub in the winter?
This great starter hot tub is only rated to be used in temperatures above 40° F (or 5° C) because the inflatable hot tub struggles to maintain its water temperature in winter weather. There is also a severe risk of pipes freezing as the central unit that powers the hot tub sits next to the tub.
