Can a furnace be run with only a fan?
If you want separate control of the fan, you’re going to need at least one more wire. As it currently sits, the fan is being controlled by the furnace control module, or internal furnace wiring. The thermostat simply tells the furnace when it’s cold, and the furnace orchestrates turning on the heat and fan.

How can I Stop my Furnace Fan from running?
Be sure that at the thermostat the FAN is set to AUTO and if your limit control has a white switch as shown in our photos, pull it OUT to prevent running the fan manually. Can a Furnace Fan be forced to run?
In our photos at left that white switch found on some Honeywell fan limit controls can be used to turn the fan on continuously – another way to confirm that the fan can be forced to run.
